Gift Ideas for the Big Guy’s Father’s Day!
FYI…. this post may include affiliate links and if you buy using those links, it is at no extra cost to you!
3 weeks and counting, friends!! Lucky for the guys out there, we girls typically plan this stuff pretty far in advance. BUT! Just in case you’re struggling, I’ve pulled together some ideas that would make a great gift for the guy who is the one you usually call on to fix that squeaky “thing”, twist off the lid on a new jar of pickles (what is UP with that?!) and understands that dads do NOT babysit. I’ve heard that new grill can be a great holiday gift for a Dad, and if you were to take a look at the best picks from Kwerto.com, you could find your Dad a new grill that he’ll absolutely love. With outdoorsy items like these, you can find yourself hesitating in purchasing due to there being a limited amount of space in the home for storage. This shouldn’t put you off buying such a cool item; rent to own sheds create plenty more space for storage.
I’ve broken them down by categories and make sure you stay til the end because I made up most of this, but polled some of my favorite dads (bloggers and others) to find out from the horse’s mouth what THEY were hoping for!!
For the Tech Dad
Amazon Echo – I really, really want one of these so surely the Rooster must want one, too! Right?! Amazon Echo is a hands-free speaker you control with your voice. Echo connects to the Alexa Voice Service to play music, provide information, news, sports scores, weather, and more-instantly. All you have to do is ask.
Mosh IonBank Portable Battery – No one likes to run out of juice (just ask your 2-year-old) so why not give Dad the best on the go recharge he can have? A fast-charging battery pack for a quick power boost when you need it most. Its 3,200 mAh battery gives your iPhone 6s 120% more battery life, and SmartSenseTM circuitry lets you charge your device and IonBank together at the same time.
Bose SoundLink Mini Bluetooth Speaker II – I don’t know about your guy, but my guy loves to listen to his music when he’s grilling or working on stuff outside. This Bose bluetooth speaker is the small speaker with the big, big voice. The SoundLink Mini Bluetooth speaker II delivers full sound with dramatically deeper lows than you’d expect from a speaker that fits in the palm of your hand. And because it’s wireless and ultra-compact, it’s easy to take Bose sound anywhere.
Bragi The Dash, App Enabled Headphones – This one can go under this category AND the sports dad category but no matter which one it is, he will LOVE these earbuds. Thanks to my friend Dan P. for bringing them to my attention because I now need these in my life… The Dash consists of a pair of truly wireless smart earphones; Bragi’s revolutionary lightweight design and state of the art technology gives you freedom and comfort. Stand alone or use with your smart phone you can Listen. Track. Communicate. Because The Dash combines three amazing technologies in one revolutionary product.
For the Entertaining & Grilling Dad
Grilling Accessories from Cave Tools – We love our gadgets from Cave Tools and you’ll find everything from BBQ Grill Lights to high quality stainless steel grill sets to a digital thermometer. Their products are made to stand the test of even the most fierce grilling master.
The Barman – Whether he’s looking to make a nightcap for himself or channeling his inner Tom Cruise ala Cocktail, this is a wicked cool addition to ANY home bar or man cave. The Barman is a wireless cocktail-mixing platform for your smartphone. Just select your drink size, your glass size, and mix! The Barman will tell you what to pour, when to start pouring, and when to stop.
Coleman Road Trip Propane Portable Grill LXE – Here’s another one that can cross categories, but since it’s a GRILL, I put it here. If dad likes to camp in style or tailgate with his squad, this is a must have. The Coleman RoadTrip LXE Propane Grill is easy to tote around and set up. Many people prefer using a propane grill because, as sites like Propane New York explain, it has a much smaller environmental impact. Just fold it up, roll it with one hand to your favorite cooking spot and set it up in a matter of seconds with the lift and lock system. The grill comes equipped with durable cast-iron grilling surfaces.
Carnivore Club – We’ve got our LeTote and wine of the month club… shouldn’t every guy have a meat of the month club? And guess who else gets to benefit from that? YOU! Carnivore Club is the world’s first curated cured meat of the month club featuring artisans from around the world. Each month our members receive an impressive faux-wood box filled with 4-6 handcrafted cured meats from top artisans. Like wine, the laborious craft of cured meats is an art form that requires the diligent pursuit of perfection through endless hours of trial and error…
Fuego Box – Another “of the month” club that’s perfect if your guy likes it HOT – and I’m talking food here people! Fuego Box has scoured the Earth looking for the perfect craft and small-batch hot sauces for their boxes. They don’t focus on insane heat or gimmicky sauces; but rather on dynamic taste accompanied by the appropriate amount of heat. Their goal is to deliver you the best hot sauces that you’ve probably never heard of. They do special occasion boxes such as Father’s Day that make great gifts!
For the Outdoorsy Dad
GoPro HERO4 – Allow dad to capture his world with HERO4 Silver, the high-performance GoPro with a built-in touch display. Controlling the camera, framing shots and playing back content is ultra convenient-just view, tap and swipe the screen. HERO4 Silver captures 1080p60 and 720p120 video with lifelike clarity, plus 12MP photos at a staggering 30 frames per second. Built-in video trimming lets you create and save short highlight clips for easy sharing.
ENO DoubleNest Hammock Whether dad wants to chill in the backyard after mowing the grass or take it on a camping trip, the ENO is the only hammock that will do. Big enough for two and palatial for one, the DoubleNest still manages to stuff easily into its attached compression sack. Take it anywhere, set it up in seconds flat, lay back and get your chillmode on!
CamelBak M.U.L.E. NV Hydration Pack The M.U.L.E. NV keeps you hydrated while your back and gear stay dry. This narrow-gauge mountain biking pack has everything you need and nothing you don’t-and its compact design means that it won’t get in the way, even when it’s fully loaded. It also includes a built-in rain cover the pops up to shelter your gear from showers on the trail.
Yeti Tundra Cooler Another must-have for the dad who likes to camp or tailgate in style is the Yeti cooler. Well, anything Yeti is the ultimate in keep it as hot or as cold as possible gear. YETI’s PermaFrost Insulation is pressure-injected, giving you exceptional thermal resistance for unmatched ice retention, T-Rex Lid Latches, with patent-pending technology and molded-in keepers, keep your lid securely closed and are built to last. The YETI Coolers ColdLock Gasket minimizes unwanted air exchange, locking out heat while sealing in cold and the NeverFail Hinge System includes a full-length, integrated hinge that is self stopping and will not break.
For the Stylin’ Dad
Dollar Shave Club Membership – Whether you dig your man clean-shaven or full-on beard, at some point there’s a razor involved in his life. With a monthly membership to Dollar Shave Club, he’ll never have to worry about crappy or overly expensive blades again. They also have a full line of haircare and skincare products that are just downright manly smelling.
Ray-Ban Aviator Sunglasses – Don’t lie to me and tell me seeing your man dressed up isn’t a good thing and the best way to top the ensemble off than a pair of classic aviator sunglasses from Ray-Ban? Starting with a silver screen debut in 1961, Ray-Ban sunglasses have appeared throughout hundreds of films and have been a favorite on the Hollywood scene for years, both on and off the screen.
Hublot for men – Let him be the talk of the dinner party when he wears a stylish new Hublot watch that goes with an outfit. Make him look like the smartest person in the room with an accessory that will be much better than any watch he currently owns.
Cole Haan Men’s Howland Penny Loafer – The man needs a new pair of shoes – and preferably the kind that don’t include white laces. Both stylish and practical, this update on a timeless classic will be his new favorite shoe. The perennial preppy favorite gets modern appeal in Cole Haan’s Howland loafer. In full-grain leather with a traditional monk strap and penny slot, Howland is offered a contemporary touch by the driving shoe-inspired heel-wrapping rubber sole for premium grip when you put the pedal to the metal.
Stetson Muldoon Summer Hat – Far more stylish than the everyday baseball cap, this hat is the perfect summer topper for the man who loves to wear hats. The Muldoon from Stetson’s Outdoors Collection is a handsome Bao Straw hat featuring a 3 1/4″ brim and circular gambler crown. The crown is adorned with a Black fabric band and a Stetson metal insignia stick pin.
Now that I’ve run thru some of my ideas, as promised, here are some ideas from some of my favorite dads around the interwebz!! You may be surprised at one common theme that kept popping up!!
What the Real Dads REALLY Want –
Jon Lowder of Jon’s Font of Worthless Information – That’s easy. A true day off, and dinner with the entire family. Oh and a good travel coffee mug (get a Yeti!!!) and a slim wallet (it’s not slim enough after 3 college tuitions??)
Tracy Myers – This is gonna sound cheesy but I never ask for material things. I want a day of no agenda with the family.
Kim Williams of Man Named Kim – Hiking shoes … or, World Peace with Justice.
James Zahn of The Rock Father – Hopefully just a day to work in the yard, hang out, & get stuff done. It’s also the “official” 5th Anniversary of my site 🙂 (Y’all better make sure you give James a shout-out for that!!)
Teddy Burris of NC Wiseman – A quiet morning then a loud and rowdy afternoon with the girls & grands. And a steak.
Tim Beeman of Useless Things Need Love, Too – I want Blue Yeti and a new camera bag to keep all my video equipment in and accessories.
Paul Jones of The Beer Dads – 12″ carbon steel fry pan, stainless steel French press, and a set of proper beer glasses. (followed with the disclaimer of glasses – not goggles…)
