Family Friendly Binge Watching Shows on Netflix!
Summer is coming to a close and before you know it (or some you already do!!) we’ll all be back in the early morning routine, packing lunches and checking homework.
For now, though, we’re hanging on to the last days of Summer 2016 – overnight camps are done, vacation pictures have been printed and probably school supplies have been bought. If it’s as hot there as it is here in NC you and the kids may be looking for ways to actually stay inside where it’s not so blasted hot. And I can’t think of a better way to let them (and you!) relax than a couple of indulgent days of binge-watching age appropriate shows. I mean… we have OUR shows that we watch usually after they’re in bed but wouldn’t it be a nice way to hold on to the last few days of no schedules? Netflix has a couple of new ones as well as some tried and true favorites, so queue up your list and settle in for some guaranteed family fun!
Beat Bugs
Beat Bugs, inspired by the music of the Beatles, your next family sing-along can be “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.” Thanks to five charming and energetic bug-like creatures (Jay, Kumi, Crick, Buzz and Walter), families have the opportunity to come together over kid-friendly storylines and the best damn music ever made — recorded by today’s top artists, including Jennifer Hudson, P!nk, Sia and Eddie Vedder.
GIVEAWAY ALERT!!! You’ll love the show so much that you may just be inspired to start belting out your favorite tunes in the middle of the family room! So why not grab your phone and record a video!! Netflix is providing me with a 6-month subscription card to give away to one lucky winner who submits their family’s “All You Need is Love” cover using #BeatBugs. You only have until August 31st to get this done so either tag me in a tweet (@kristendaukas) or post it on my Facebook page!!
Project Mc2
Season 2 of Project Mc2 is now available!!! We loved this show last year when it came out – such a great showcase of geeky, brainy girls who all love STEM!! 13 new episodes and missions will challenge and test the girls as well as delight your kids!! If they’re inspired to get involved in their own missions, why not release everyone’s geeky side with these fun science experiments!
Degrassi: Next Class
Another show we’ve loved is the latest in a long history of the Degrassi series. Degrassi: Next Class is definitely one to watch with your older kids who are in high school. It’s a show that hits on topics such as sex, depression, bullying and more. This show was so popular and viewed (multiple times) so much that the 2nd season was released in the same year the first one was! Make sure you check out the posts from when this hit earlier this year and why it’s a must-watch with your teens.
Worth Another Watch:
Fuller House
Season 2 is being filmed right now so if you somehow haven’t seen it – now’s a good time to tune in to Fuller House so you can get caught up on all things Tanner!!
H2o
If your little mermaid has grown into a teen since they watched the H2o series, I guarantee they’ll love a revisit of this series that centers on three girls who are magically turned into mermaids.
Gilmore Girls
If you are salivating waiting for Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life which debuts November 25th, then get busy watching the original 7 seasons of this wildly popular and critically acclaimed show. If your daughter’s never seen it – what better time than now for you to introduce her while you trip down memory lane!!
Now that I’ve helped you fill your queue, I think you’ve got more than enough to choose from to get you thru these last couple of weeks of summer and maybe even take you straight thru at least the first piece of fall!!
Which shows are you watching as a family on Netflix?
