Bloggers, Wine, and Medaloni Cellars

There are few things that bloggers love more than seeing each other in person at meet-ups and wine. Make both of those happen at the same time and it’s Eutopia so when I was asked to bring together a few bloggers to take a private tour of Medaloni Cellars, I gathered up some of the best – and most fun ones in our area.

These are my peeps…. some of the best bloggers in the Triad!!

Medaloni Cellars is one of the most recent additions to the infamous NC Yadkin Valley opening in Lewisville, NC in 2013. Owner Joey Medaloni is no stranger to the hospitality world here in the Triad, having owned nightclubs and restaurants before opening the winery.

Getting to Medaloni is super easy as it’s located right off of I40 in Lewisville. Pulling into the gates, you’re greeted with your first sipping area that offers comfy seating, a huge bar, a fire pit and plenty of room to hang out with your friends!

Continuing up the gravel drive, you’ll find the main “tasting room” where all the action happens. It’s the perfect spot to try the different wine with your friends, and chat all while looking down at the beautiful Yadkin Valley. There are even a few random chickens clucking about the property.

Our pre-tasting pep talk…

Joey’s passion for his new-found venture is evident and he took great pride and a lot of time to walk us thru his story and his wine making process.

One of the cool things about how Joey handled this tasting is what he asked of us… he only wanted to know if we LIKED the wine. That’s it. Wasn’t looking for critiquing or what flavors we tasted first or on which palette. I think a lot of people are turned away from trying new wines for fear of being intimidated by the process – Joey made it easy for everyone. And if you’re wondering? Yes. We liked it. A lot.

Yes, we drank straight from a barrel. Yes, we used glasses. We’re bloggers, not heathens…

The Wines at Medaloni Cellars

Oh boy. Joey’s always cooking up something new. I don’t think I’ve tasted even half of them yet.. good thing I have an insider track so I can sip my way thru them all eventually. So far my absolute favorite is the Medaloni Merlot. The varietals change often which is common for small batch wineries. Here’s a listing of what they’ve recently been pouring:

The Classic Tasting includes a tasting of five lovely wines. The Premiere Tasting includes seven wines and you get to keep your Medaloni Cellars wine glass.

Events at Medaloni Cellars

Medaloni Cellars is on approximately 22 acres and is now the only winery IN Forsyth County. They offer wine tastings and tours, as well as hosting events such as weddings, family reunions, birthday parties and other events. Food trucks are frequently on the property and many weekends you’ll find live music to pair with your favorite wines. In addition to all of that, Medaloni frequently has live entertainment so make sure you keep an eye on their calendar!

If you’re in the Triad area and haven’t heard of or been to Medaloni Cellars, I can’t say enough about it. Joey and his staff make gracious hosts and it’s definitely become a jewel in my book on places to go around here!!
