pecan chewies recipe

When we moved back to NC 8 1/2 years ago, the bestie introduced me to this really cool chick whose name is Kim. Kim and her husband, Brandon, have 2 kim mcquilkin's fabulous pecan chewiesgirls and are just a super fun family that we don’t get to see nearly enough. Kim is one of those people who can knit a pair of socks while sharing a glass bottle of wine AND carry on a full conversation. (she also talks with her hands like I do, which makes it even MORE impressive) I’ll never forget one year at Christmas, we were at Jen’s house and Kim walks in with her latest crafting kick and before the night was over, had made the cutest ornaments for all 6 of the girls.

Who does that?!

Kim McQuilkin, that’s who.

And then there’s another piece of her that is an amazing pastry chef. If there’s a potluck and she’s invited, you can bet Kim’s bringing some insanely wicked and beautiful dessert. I think the aforementioned Christmas was the first time that I ever tried Kim’s Pecan Chewies. They are the simplest little treats but good God are they delicious and if you make them, be sure you have people coming over because there’s a reason that I nicknamed them “crack”. I made these last week and had to move them out of my path in the kitchen.

One of the other things about Kim is her ability to remember recipes in her head.. when I proclaimed my love for these, she literally rattled off the recipe into an email right then and there and sent it to me.

So the next time you need to make a quick dessert, I hope you’ll try these pecan chewies. You will not be disappointed!!
